Mr. Tim Adams appointed to succeed Mr. Charles Dallara as Managing Director of the Institute of International Finance

Mr. Tim Adams, Managing Director of The Lindsey Group, the Washington D.C.-based economic advisory firm, has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the Institute to succeed Mr. Charles Dallara as Managing Director of the Institute of International Finance. He will join the Institute on January 1, 2013 as Managing Director-Designate, and take up his new position on February 1.

Mr. Adams, a former Under Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for International Affairs, said: “I am delighted and honored to assume this new role. The Institute of International Finance has, in its 30 years of existence, established itself as the leading global association of financial institutions. It has developed a key role in many areas of global finance, and I am confident is poised to expand that role over the coming years as we face a period of unprecedented change. I look forward to taking up the reins of this impressive organization and to working with the global policy and regulatory communities.”
Mr. Douglas Flint, Chairman of the Board of the IIF, said: “From a broad field of contenders, Tim Adams clearly stood out. He brings to the IIF an enviable range of skills and experience, from both the public and private sectors, and is exceptionally well positioned to lead the Institute over the years ahead. Tim is a worthy successor to Charles, who has with supreme dedication steered the Institute over the past two decades to the position it now occupies, as the world’s pre-eminent association for global financial institutions. I look forward to working closely with Tim as he takes the Institute forward.”

As Under Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for International Affairs, Mr. Adams was the Administration’s point person on international financial issues, including exchange rate policy, G-7 meetings, and matters relating to the IMF and The World Bank. He regularly interacted with counterparts in key emerging markets, including Brazil, China and India, and traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Prior to the post of Under Secretary, Mr. Adams served as Chief of Staff to both Treasury Secretary Mr. Paul O’Neill and Treasury Secretary Mr. John Snow. Mr. Adams also served in the White House under the first President Bush, at the Office of Policy Development. In 1993, Mr. Adams co-founded the G-7 Group, a Washington D.C.-based advisory firm, and later headed their Washington, D.C. operation as Managing Director.

Mr. Charles Dallara said: “I am delighted that Tim Adams has accepted the offer to become the Institute’s next Managing Director and am confident that he brings to the IIF the skills, experience, energy and determination to guide the organization to new heights. He is privileged to lead a dedicated team of professionals and they are equally privileged to have as their new Managing Director a person of such outstanding qualities and experience.”
