Greek petroleum refiner Motor Oil Hellas (FRA:MHZ) has been awarded an environmental permit for a 79.6-MW wind project on the Greek island of Evia, business news services provider Newmoney reports.
The approval was issued by the country’s Ministry of Environment and Energy last week. The project will be executed by Motor Oil’s subsidiary DMX Aeolitic.
The project calls for the construction and operation of a complex of six wind farms with individual capacities ranging between 6 MW and 29.9 MW. The capacity will be installed in the municipal units of Marmaris and Styrai, in Karystos municipality, and in the municipality of Eretria. The power plants will be equipped with 32 of Enercon’s E82/2.30 MW turbines and three E82/2.00 MW machines. The largest one will consist of 13 turbines.
According to the report, the original project envisaged the addition of 102.3 MW of turbine capacity but the project design was changed and some turbines were removed in order to meet certain concerns related to their location.
